Every now and again, I find a book whose cover begs me to purchase and read it immediately. Then, if the title is even slightly interesting, I am hooked. I found one just this week:
Fireflies, Moonlight, and All That Jazz by Tammy Lynn Whitman
Most readers have favorite books and authors. Most could rattle off a few without thinking for a full minute. If your favorite author happens to be a new author, or not fully established, there are ways you can help them. Here are my three tips for helping your favorite authors:
Tell all your friends about the author and their books. Word of mouth is priceless. And remember, because you're not directly involved, your word will carry more weight.
Leave a review of their books on Amazon, BN, and Powell's. Talk about on your blog or website too. It costs you only a little time, but can benefit the author tons.
Call up your libraries and any local bookstores to request they carry the books of your favorite authors.
There are many other things you can do. Your chosen author will be greatly appreciative.

V.K. Sansone opens the realm of the spiritual for us in this book. In a dream she had many years ago, God showed her the depth of what hell is like... only pain, only fear, dread, and thirst. There is no going back. No freedom. No rest. No escape! Get your copy today!
Dani went and nominated this blog for an award. I am thrilled! You just have to know
Dani. She's a straight talking, shoot it from the hip type. Getting a nomination from her is like winning an Oscar. LOL! She's going to get me for that. LOL!

So, in keeping with the rules, I get to nominate a few good folks.
I'd like to nominate
Karen Tims. She does great reviews and give authors wonderful feedback to grow from;
Ginger Simpson because she's a writer's writer. She's gooooooooood! Finally, I nominate Donna Shepherd's
Topsy Tale blog. Now you get to post this same award to your blog and nominate up to seven others. Don't forget to link back to me for nominating you. YAY!!!
Author websites and/or blogs are one of the most overlooked and under-developed marketing tools. Many authors simply do not understand the dynamic of a well designed and frequently updated website/blog.
First of all, readers don't just read a book and forget about it if it is a good read. They get involved. They want to know the author. They want to know back-story. They want to know what else you're working on, etc. They aren't just fans of a particular book, but fans of the author. So, where do they find this information? Your website, no doubt.
Secondly, others in the industry look for author websites. It could be a movie producer, a foreign publisher, a cartoonist, a larger local publisher, etc. You don't know who may want to know more about you eventually so make sure to keep your sites fresh and inviting, clean and simple, but with your own flare.
Finally, your website can act as an online organizer. You can list all your other links on your landing page, making yourself that much more accessible without a lot of work on behalf of your customer/reader.
