Profile

Personal Bio:
I am a writer of Ebony and Interracial erotica who shatters the common, stereotypical and derogatory perpetuations of Black sexuality. The time of showing Black men as barely-literate bucks and black women as ghetto whores is gone. Black erotica is more than stories of rappers and athletes flaunting material wealth and black women exchanging sex for goods and services. So much of what is written about Black sexuality is not written from an authentic perspective. The rest of Ebony erotica is written for a market that is so starved for anything that dismal erotica passes as quality because there is a dearth of options available. I work diligently to show Black characters that are multi-dimensional, complex, sexual human beings and I focus on character development. The sex in my erotica, intense and hardcore, serves as a backdrop to a compelling story and socially relevant topics. I have been able to tap into the growing and rarely-discussed trend of white submission and interracial and Ebony fascination in general to construct intricate tales of love and lust within a well-constructed literary body of work. I also write articles on Black race, culture and sexuality. I serve as columnist or contributor for Op-Ed pieces as well.
Do you have any published books:
I'm looking for an investor for my manuscript currently. In Loving Color is the intelligent, socially conscious, Afrocentric alternative to ghetto/urban erotica. In Loving Color is a collection of twelve erotic stories that shows African Americans in a healthy erotic light and works to dismantle the negative and stereotypical depictions of Black sexuality. The book has three sections; each section has four erotic stories. Section one is dedicated to heterosexual Black erotica, section two features alternative expressions of Black sexuality, and the final section shows interracial erotic stories. Optimally, In Loving Color will be a bedside/coffee table book of Ebony and interracial erotica with beautiful photography. The true innovation of the book will be the stunning images that compliment the subject matter and storylines. Each story has a unique plot with complex characters and innovative and daring ways to examine black sexuality. In Loving Color feeds the passions of the entire Black community, of every sexual orientation, in one book, it embraces standards of beauty that fall outside the narrowly defined standard of attractiveness, and it opens a window of perspective to mainstream readers that shows the true diversity of African Americans.

Ghetto literature is not only an oxymoron, it's a plausible impossibility. There can be no literature without proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure and storyline. To ascribe the category of literature to 9/10ths of the books published in this genre is generous to say the least. Moreover, there is very little value in the endless string of ghetto tales being woven today. Yes, everyone deserves a voice and there are stories to be told on every end of the socio economic spectrum but how many of these stories do we champion without giving them credence and validation? Ghetto is not a state that people should ascribe to or romanticize. We as a people have lost sight of the fact that ghetto conditions mean poor education, inaccessibility to the experiences that will allow people to transcend the bombardment of racist initiatives white people use to keep us oppressed, it means living in a perpetual state of poverty, debt, and dependence on underemployment. "Ghetto" isn't a birthright; it’s a legacy of oppression, racism, bigotry, and discrimination. We've got a generation of people thinking that being ghetto is fashionable, hip, and something to ascribe to. Instead of raging against the machine in order to ensure equal education, opportunity, and success for everyone, we have legions of people looking to stay within the confines of their ghetto reality. Tales of ghetto woe need to be told, but NOT in way that glamorize them. I want better for my people even if they can't see an alternative reality for themselves.

Jungle Fever Commentary

http://afroerotik.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=2090732%3ATopic%3A604 This was perhaps, the most difficult story I’ve ever written. No, this was, by far, without a doubt, the hardest story I’ve ever written. It challenged me in ways that no other story has even come close to doing. I got the idea to write a story about a black man and a white woman because my repertoire is dangerously light on that theme. I have a ton of stories about white men with Black women, mostly driven by the fact that w… Continue

What is important to me.

The most important thing in my life is breaking the chains of mental slavery that bind African Americans today. Liberating us from the belief systems we learned in slavery is paramount to any other thing I can do in my lifetime. We hold on to the things we learned in slavery and they are detrimental to our psyche, they debilitate us, they cripple us emotionally and psychologically, and we defend those things to the death. It is of the utmost importance to make my people see that the things that… Continue

I support good Black writers.

I feature Black erotic writers each month on my website and jump through hoops trying to get people to comment and give feedback on the stories. At least three of the writers that I've featured on my site have gotten publishing deals from being featured. I go through a lot of stories that aren't good to weed out the ones that are. I don't support crappy writers, nor should I. I'm not going to support writers who degrade Black people with stereotypes or who perpetuate detrimental behaviors. Hell… Continue

The State of Black Erotica

From the rhythmic tales of the sagacious griot, weaving tales of slaves whose love endured the horrors of chattel slavery, to the Harlem Renaissance with its unapologetic look at that mysterious element which made our natures rise, to the soul-stirring harmonies of R&B that have been the soundtrack to our seductions for decades, Black people have always had a long tradition of erotic expression. In 1992, an editor by the name of Miriam Decosta-Willis, published an anthology of erotica called… Continue
