Profile

Personal Bio:
My name is Amanda Easton. I live in Des Moines, Iowa. I am a human resources investigator by day and a writer/poetess in my free time. I specialize in writing conversational and confessional-style prose and prose poetry. I'm workin' on a niche, and a style of writing that's completely my own, which is intended to mimic the way I speak. So, we'll see how successful that is. More importantly, writing for me is bliss. It's the closest thing to heaven I've found. Most everything I write is about intimate relationships (my favorite topic...not big on participating in 'em...but boy, do I LOVE writing about 'em...go figure) and what I write drips with raw, unbridled emotion. I explore honesty with my writing and I routinely ask myself with each piece, how brave can I be? Can I embrace who I truly am, in the light and the dark, when I write? I wrote a book titled The Last Love Letter which was published and released on November 19, 2007. I am currently working to promote that book and writing a second book I hope to have out soon.

The Last Love Letter by Amanda Easton. The Last Love Letter is the raw, provocative and humbling story of a heartbreaking relationship involving a young African-American couple that begins with a one-night stand. The central lesson in the book is about unrequited love and letting go of the ones we’ve loved with grace and gratitude, no matter what happened in the relationship. The Last Love Letter documents a journey about closure and finding peace, and at the end of the day, it’s just a very relatable and human story about sex, love, expectations, truth and forgiveness. You can buy a copy today at www.amazon.com or order a copy wher'ever books are sold. I'm wishing you love or drama (if that's what does it for you...I get it), Amanda Easton, author of The Last Love Letter

Excerpt from the book, The Last Love Letter

You lied You omitted things Misrepresented You lied And I don’t know why I don’t understand why I never got the feeling You really liked me Not in any way that mattered What difference would it have made If it had stopped? If we had just stopped What difference would it have made? What would it have changed in Your life? Not fucking me once every blue moon? So what? There was a line I could have taken a number And gotten in line When it came to You Silly broads Looking me up and down At Th… Continue

Oh, Why Not Just Be Flattered Already?

I've known you only marginally, and yet I've dedicated a tremendous amount of thought to you over the last decade or so. Well, I've dedicated a lot of thought to the idea of you, anyway. And I know it's only my idea. And I recognize that my idea of who you were at one point in time and who you actually were at that point in time might be different. I get that. I'm hoping that you get that too, that this story cannot speak, necessarily, to who you were or who you are or who you will be...unless y… Continue
