PRESS RELEASE

Black Writers Up For the $1500 Independent Writers Challenge

Charlotte, North Carolina - June 24, 2010 - OnixLink.com - The African-America Who, What, Where Guide is proud to announce the launch of the $1500 Independent Writers Challenge, a contest which encourages and supports black writers and authors who have elected to go about publishing their books independently. The contest is also celebration of the long and proud black literary tradition.

So often, writers excel at their craft, but may need assistance and direction at managing the business of their craft. The Independent Writers Challenge will require the entrants to assess the business aspect of how they intend to go about becoming a literary success.

OnixLink.com - in association with the African-Americans on the Move Book Club (AAMBC) – will evaluate the responses of the contest entrants to a series of questions about their plan for their book and writing career. From the first round of entrants, the selected ten finalists will have their books reviewed by the AAMBC leadership team. OnixLink will select a grand-prize winner based on the overall scoring of the questionnaire responses and the reviews of their books by AAMBC leadership.

The OnixLink Independent Writers Challenge grand-prize is a promotional package with a retail value of $1500. The grand-prize includes:

  • $300 Cash
  • Custom website, with a design to match the book
  • Custom business cards and post cards
  • 30 Second Video Trailer
  • Selected as Book of the Month with AAMBC
