Hot Mess

Unfortunately 2 weeks ago Friday was not a reflection of my intelligence. I did not know my limit and did not know when to say stop. I do remember the pleasant experience of throwing up in the parking lot and being assisted home.

Can you imagine me and my amazon self (5 ft "11) swaying to… Continue

Solomon

My mother was a black bohemian. She believed in the power of books.

She read to my brother, sister and I before we had the patience to sit still.

....and when I finally sat still, it ignited a brightly burning flame within me.

It was like unwrapping one of the biggest Christmas

presents under the tree.

...like tasting, for the first time, your first piece of candy.

Images protruding from my wondrous imagination bounced about my soft mind.

I didn't know I… Continue

Letting a Good Friend Down

As exhaustion takes over and responsibilities continue to pile on. My abilities to keep juggling the balls of life become more and more difficult. Often because my mother was away spending her vacations with my grandmother who had Alzheimer’s as a result I was left alone for much of the holiday season. Her family took me in and it was with them that I spent my Christmases,… Continue

Cranberry Facial Wash

Did you know the acidity in cranberries works as a mild astringent and toner? Did you know that the Greeks originally considered Savory to be an aphrodisiac? Cranberry and Savory posses antiseptic properties similar to those found in oregano and thyme, and help cleanse the skin of excess oils.

1 tablespoon dried savory leaves

Crushed 1/2 cup boiling water

1/2 cup cranberries

Steep the dried savory in boiling water in a small bowl, for fifteen minutes.… Continue

Are we actually seeing the white race as they trully are?

ACCURATELY SEEING THE WHITE RACE AS THEY TRULLY ARE.

The collective White psyche is rarely, if ever examined in particular regarding their predisposition for racism and greed of power. From their positions of power, they examine and label all other races as they see fit, but rarely, if ever do they evaluate themselves or are evaluated by others. The fact is that within the collective white psyche there is a profoundly entrenched predisposition for racism that is matched only by their… Continue
