Having a literary mentor is good for your literary career. It's having someone in your corner that 100% supports you and your dreams for your career. There are sometimes questions that authors and writers have that can't be answered with a simple google. Writing comes with frustration, headaches and an urge to write but nothing comes out or in others words, writer's block.
