Poem: Hair!!!

“I hate my hair!”
I screamed
And as the words fell out my mouth
I took it back
Because I immediately though of those cancer patients
Who had no hair to complain about
So I decided to stop the straigheners
Stop the blow dryers and the curling iron and the rollers
All the things that made me not what I really am
And instead I grew locks
Dread, Natty Dread
Whatever you want to call it
But I call it natural hair
MY natural hair

That is the longest it has ever been
That I twist daily
Wash with rache… Continue

Poem: Mi Cuba

Oh how I would like to see you
Before you are changed
I dream of you every day
I see you are hurting
I see the faces of grief, anger and sorrow
I hear what they tell me
But I want to see you for myself
I want to know you for myself
But they stop me from seeing
They stop me from going
They fill me with lies
They fill me with joy
They fill me with the stories
Their eyes look at me and cry for help
They cry for love
They cry for food

Un carro, una casa, una bueno mujer!

The life that they see me… Continue

Poem: For The Other Woman

Who are you to come into my home
Into my bed
Into my husband
And say that you deserve some respect

WHO ARE YOU
To hang out with my kids
And play games with them
Watch blue’s clues
And say that I am not the perfect mother

Who are you
To call my house
11 o’clock at night
Telling MY husband
That you miss him and can’t spend another night
Without him laying next to you
To have him leave OUR home at 12:15
Saying that his boy’s car just broke down
An hour from home and he doesn’t know how long it wi… Continue

Poem: Making Love: The Mariage of Two Hu Man Beings

I’ll always be there with you
Standing next to you
Loving the hell outta you
Because we’re inseparable
And there’s no mystery that you and I were meant to be
So that’s why you’ll always be my king
And I will always be your forever love
Yes, the one I live for
The one I will always love

Strength is what we have
What we give each other to carry on
Big heart, big soul
Big dreams, big goals
The two of us, stand hand in hand
Accomplishing everything that we can

Two mates finding our soul
Were never… Continue
